Bio

Jeff was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa.  His earliest musical influences came from his father who sang in the local church choir and his older brother who was a singer in numerous rock bands. He began playing guitar at the age of 10 when he received one as a Christmas gift from his parents, and has studied music ever since. At the age of 17, Jeff moved to Los Angeles with his sister in order to pursue a career as a songwriter and filmmaker.

Jeff attended Cal State University Los Angeles where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Television, Film and Media Studies. As a thesis project, Jeff and his fellow colleagues co-produced the short film Letters of the Great War, an antiwar narrative which was accepted into 8 film festivals around the world.

In 2006, he worked as a backup vocalist for Neil Young’s Living with War album, which protested the Iraq-Afghanistan wars. Jeff completed his first solo album Appassionata in December of 2008. His music consists of acoustic guitar and an arrangement of organic instruments as well as the use of synths, as he combines folk melodies and piano ballads with surreal poetry. Jeff enjoys collaborating with other artists creatively, although he prefers to write original material a solo artist.

Jeff also works in the entertainment industry as a post-production supervisor for films and television projects. He has supervised the postproduction of over 300 commercially-released films, including project management for Hollywood directors such as Peter Jackson (King Kong), Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men) and Jim Jarmusch (Broken Flowers). Jeff also teaches courses part-time at Cal State University Los Angeles in graphic design, digital sound production, and film production.  He most recently co-produced, acted and edited a short film Chess & The Stranger, which has been nominated to over 10 independent film festivals around the world and has already garnered several awards including Best Acting, Best Director, Best Short Film and an Audience award.

His latest album Angels of Christmas was co-written and co-produced by musical producer Mark Keefner. The album was released in December 2020.
